Tackling the Ironing Backlog Without Doing Everything at Once

Choose a useful first step
A backlog can feel larger when every item seems equally urgent. Start by separating clothes needed in the next few days from items that can wait. Check what is already wearable and what genuinely needs pressing. The aim is to make the next step manageable.
Check that items are ready
Ironing is not a substitute for washing. Gather clean, dry items, check care labels and set aside anything that needs cleaning or has unclear instructions. NIS handles ironing only; washing and dry cleaning should be arranged separately.
Decide what to hand over
You might choose to send the work shirts first, or the everyday items you find most time-consuming. Tell NIS what you have, how you would like it returned and whether particular pieces are needed soon. Ask about suitability and timing rather than assuming a large backlog can all be returned to an unconfirmed deadline.
Make room for the finished clothes
Before delivery, clear a little hanging or drawer space. Putting away a manageable return can be easier than dealing with everything at once. NIS offers occasional as well as regular ironing help without contracts, so you can enquire about the approach that suits your household.
To arrange ironing collection and delivery, book through the NIS website or call 01606 870001. Tell us about your location, items and preferred arrangements.
